How to adjust the standard lens for LED Illuminator

Nov 2024

If you are replacing a legacy halogen-based Fiber Optic Light Source (p/n 100-05-LS-115) 115v version or 230v version (p/n 100-05-LS-230) with a new LED Fiber Optic Illuminator (p/n 100-05-LED-LS) (which is dual voltage), it's necessary to make a small change to a setting on the standard lens.

The default setting for the F-Stop is 8 as shown above

This needs to be adjusted to 4.5 for optimal performance with the LED Fiber Optic Light Source.

First loosen three small screws as shown below. Only a half turn is necessary. Use a small Phillips screwdriver - like the kind that is used to adjust eyeglasses. Turn each of three screws CCW one half turn.

Screw 1 of 3

Screw 2 of 3

Screw 3 of 3

Once all three screws are loosened, turn the knurled dial so the white bar aligns with 4.5 (which is halfway between 4 and 5.6) as shown below.

Set the F-stop to 4.5

Next, tighten all three screws again so the new setting is secure.

Note that other available setting should always remain set on infinity as shown above.

Your instrument is now ready to use with the LED Fiber Optic Illuminator (p/n 100-05-LED-LS).
