Technical Bulletin Regarding Decimal Error Message Nov 2025 In different regions of the
world, the decimal representation for numbers can be represented by either a
period (.) or a comma (,). For example, the fraction 1/10 is expressed as 0.1
in some locations, such as Asia, the United States or the United Kingdom, but
would be expressed as 0,1 in other parts of Europe, Africa, and South
America. Despite this regional convention, most programming languages use the
period as the decimal separator of choice. Changing the computer’s
regional settings occasionally leads to an error in the ramé-hart DROPimage
software. When opening the software, an error message that says “0,500 is not
a valid floating point value.” The first step to resolve
this issue is to reset the computer’s regional format. Open the start menu
and search for “region” to navigate to Region Settings, or
open the Settings application and go to Time & language, then select
Language & region. Under regional format, select English (United States).
This will ensure the proper decimal representation using a period is used.
Confirm the change is
working properly by opening the calculator app and computing a fraction like
1/10. The result should read “0.1” rather than “0,1”. Next, it will be necessary
to reset the configuration settings for the DROPimage software. Open File
Explorer and navigate to the C: drive. Open the DROPimage folder and locate
the configuration settings file named “Drop”. Rename this file to “Drop.bak”. This will trigger the file to reset to the
factory settings.
Finally, open DROPimage to
confirm the error does not trigger. If you require any
additional technical assistance, please contact us with
your serial number and the nature of your inquiry. |
